Donges Group is committed to deaf children
Second Christmas donation for Aid Kenya Watoto e.V.
Frankfurt, December 2020: The Donges Group has once again decided to support the Aid Kenya project this year, instead of buying Christmas presents for customers and business partners. This time, the donation is made together with the shareholder Mutares. The financial contribution will be used for the construction of new residential buildings. Besides, the Donges Group supports the upcoming measures with its comprehensive construction know-how.
The nonprofit organisation, Aid Kenya Watoto e.V., was founded in August 2014 in Rhineland and has since done valuable work with deaf children. With the donation last year, a second school building with two classrooms was built. There is also a fully equipped kitchen that provides regular meals, a dining and community room, a chicken coop, and a dormitory for children and teachers. Step by step, Aid Kenya Watoto e.V. is financing and maintaining more and more facilities, which now offer over 50 deaf children a place to learn and live. This year’s donation will be used to build an additional dormitory so that girls and boys can be accommodated in separate buildings, which is a must in Kenya.
“Social commitment is a matter of course for us,” believe Johannes Laumann, CIO of Mutares SE & Co. KGaA, and Peter Brechtelsbauer, CEO of the Donges Group. “We are aware of our social responsibility and are delighted to support the important voluntary work of Aid Kenya Watoto e.V. The help is implemented, where it is needed the most, for children who live in extreme poverty; for those who without such initiatives would not receive school education. As a father, I wish to sow seeds of hope and provide a chance of a self-determined life with our donation for them,” Laumann continued.
