July 2021. Donges Group is optimising its portfolio and has received a put option to sell its stake in Norsilk to Protac, a company belonging to Groupe Rose. The transaction is still subject to the opinion of the works council and is expected to close in the third quarter of 2021.
Norsilk was acquired by the Finnish Metsä Group in 2015 and, following a successful restructuring by shareholder Mutares SE & Co. KGaA into the Donges Group in 2019. As a specialist in wood panelling and wood products for interior and exterior applications, Norsilk serves customers in the industrial, construction and DIY sectors. The company employs around 100 people at its sites in Bouleville and Honfleur, France, and expects sales of over EUR 50 million in 2021.
Protac, a French company belonging to Groupe Rose, is active in the processing of wood for residential construction as well as exterior and interior spaces and is therefore positioned as an optimal strategic buyer for Norsilk.
Through the sale of Norsilk, the product portfolio of the Donges Group focuses even more strongly on the segments building envelope and steel structures. Only recently, the purchase of Permasteelisa España was completed, which completes the Donges Group with advanced and innovative solutions in the field of building envelopes and high-quality facades. With this, Donges Group offers the market a unique “one-stop-shop solution”.
Donges Group CEOs Peter Brechtelsbauer and Frank Krauskopf agree: “Protac is the best possible new owner for Norsilk. The transaction offers growth potential for both companies. And we as Donges Group can now focus even more on our core competence of building envelopes and steel structures and offer optimal solutions for our customers here.”
